British Columbia Govt announced that effective January. 1, 2019, the annual allowable rent increase will be 2.5%, instead of the previously announced 4.5%
The landlord in British Columbia can increase the rent by a maximum 4.5% in 2019 according to the B.C. Residential Tenancy Branch.
There is no improvement required for this rent increase. It is based on the inflation and the consumer price index.
The stipulated rent increase for 2018 was a maximum 4%.
This increase is the highest since 2004.
In comparison, the landlord of Ontario can increase their rent by a maximum 1.8% for 2019.
